General Consular Information

The Consular Services department at the Embassy of Eritrea provides services to everyone residing in the United States of America, North America (except Canada), and all of South America.

Consular Services provides National IDs, passports & travel documents, visas, authentications, and many other services.

National ID

National ID card, Underage ID card, and Temporary ID cards are issued to Eritreans by birth.

Passport and Travel Documents

Detailed information and instructions on how to apply for new and replacing old passport and travel documents.

Recovery & Rehabilitation Tax

Detailed information and guidance on the process and supporting documents needed to comply with the Annual Recovery and Rehabilitation Tax.

Power of Attorney

Power of Attorney can be authenticated by the Embassy and will be used as a legal document to act on your behalf for matters in Eritrea.

Gudayu Zimilketo

To Whom It May concern (ጉዳዩ ዝምልከቶ) can be completed for  generic legal matters that do not require a power of attorney.

Repatriation

Guidance on how to obtain a Repatriation Support Letter from the Embassy prior to permanently moving back to Eritrea.

Human Remains Shipment

Basic requirements and guidance for sending human remains to Eritrea for interment or final resting place.

Affidavit of Marital Status

Affidavit of Marital Status is required for anyone planning to conduct their wedding ceremony in Eritrea.
